Jepara Sees 4% Increase in Tourist Arrivals During 2025 Christmas and New Year Holiday
JEPARA – Jepara Regency recorded a significant rise in tourist visits during the 2025 Christmas and New Year (Nataru) holiday period. A total of 47,367 tourists visited various destinations across Jepara, marking a 4 percent increase compared to the same period in 2024, which saw 45,360 visitors.
The data was confirmed by Head of Jepara Tourism and Culture Office (Disparbud), Ali Hidayat, on Friday (2/1/2026). He explained that the surge in visitors occurred mainly at several flagship tourist attractions.
Popular Tourist Destinations in Jepara
According to Ali, Tirta Samudra Bandengan Beach became the most crowded destination, attracting 16,581 visitors. This was followed by Kartini Beach with 11,353 tourists, while the RA Kartini Museum welcomed 7,898 visitors during the holiday period.
“Tourists from outside Jepara usually visit more than one attraction, especially in the Kartini Beach and Bandengan areas,” Ali stated.
Meanwhile, visits to Karimunjawa Islands, one of Central Java’s prime marine tourism destinations, reached 5,914 tourists during the Nataru holiday.
Dominated by Domestic Tourists
Ali revealed that the holiday influx was still dominated by domestic travelers. From the total visitors, 47,171 were Indonesian tourists, while 192 were foreign tourists.
This trend reflects the growing interest of local travelers in exploring Jepara’s natural and cultural attractions, including its beaches, historical landmarks, and marine tourism destinations.
Positive Impact on Local Economy
The increase in tourist numbers has brought a positive impact on Jepara’s regional revenue. Ali explained that the main contributions came from tourist attraction retribution fees, parking fees, as well as hotel and restaurant taxes.
“The rise in visitors directly boosts local revenue and supports economic growth,” he said.
In addition, the surge has also stimulated the tourism ecosystem, benefiting micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and tourism service providers, including food vendors, souvenir sellers, and transportation services.
Strengthening Tourism Management
Looking ahead, the Jepara Tourism Office plans to strengthen visitor management to maintain service quality during peak holiday seasons. Efforts will include adding supporting facilities and enhancing human resource readiness.
“We aim to ensure optimal services during future holiday periods by improving infrastructure and workforce capacity,” Ali concluded.
With continuous improvements and strategic planning, Jepara is optimistic about sustaining tourism growth and enhancing its reputation as a top travel destination in Central Java. Makin Tahu Indonesia.
