Rembang Tourism Grows 5.15% in 2025, Welcoming Nearly 2.9 Million Visitors

REMBANG – Tourist arrivals to Rembang Regency showed a strong upward trend throughout 2025, reaching 2,843,807 visitors. This figure represents an increase of 146,383 tourists or 5.15 percent compared to 2024, which recorded 2,697,454 visitors.

Head of Rembang’s Culture and Tourism Office (Dinbudpar), Mutaqin, said the growth has significantly boosted the local economy, particularly benefiting MSMEs and tourism service providers. In addition to the longer Christmas and New Year (Nataru) holiday period, the emergence of new tourist destinations also contributed to the rise in visitor numbers.

“Several new attractions have helped drive tourist interest, including Pantai Indah Layur, Pantai Dasun, Bukit Panggang, and the ocean viewpoint at the parking area of Pasujudan Sunan Bonang,” Mutaqin explained during an interview at his office on Tuesday (6/1/2026).

Strong Performance During Nataru Holiday

Based on data from the Central Java Youth, Sports, and Tourism Office (Disporapar), Rembang welcomed 334,271 tourists during the 2026 Christmas and New Year holiday period. Although the number was slightly lower than Semarang City, Klaten Regency, and Demak Regency, it still reflects solid performance.

Mutaqin emphasized that the data shows consistent tourism growth over the past two years.

“In 2024, Rembang ranked sixth, and in 2025 we moved up to fourth place. For two consecutive years, we have remained in the top 10 most visited regions in Central Java,” he said.

Karangjahe Beach Remains Top Attraction

From a destination perspective, Karangjahe Beach in Punjulharjo Village, Rembang District, remains the most popular tourist spot. Located along the strategic Pantura Semarang–Surabaya route, the beach attracted 111,171 visitors during the Nataru holiday.

This achievement placed Karangjahe Beach ninth among 1,154 tourist destinations across Central Java. Although it dropped one position compared to 2024, Mutaqin noted that the actual number of visitors increased significantly.

“In 2024, Karangjahe Beach recorded 87,560 visitors during Nataru. In 2025, the number rose sharply to 111,171 tourists,” he explained.

Optimistic Outlook for Regional Tourism

With a steady upward trend, the Rembang government remains optimistic that the tourism sector will continue to serve as a key driver of regional economic growth in the coming years.

Through destination development, improved facilities, and community involvement, Rembang aims to strengthen its position as one of Central Java’s leading tourist destinations.

The positive performance throughout 2025 signals strong potential for sustainable tourism growth, supporting local businesses and enhancing regional prosperity. Makin Tahu Indonesia.
